I don't need the ridiculous dock that I can't permanently disable. I do not need three instances of OverwolfBrowser.exe and an instance for 32-bit AND 64-bit binaries each just for one service. Bad enough you need to put up with it for things like web browsers, third-party binaries, etc. Hey! I'm sorry but 7 active processes for ONE program is ridiculous. PS to anyone wondering, I have used WoWUP every day since this post, used it for shadowlands beta, shadowlands launch, and not once have I never said anything bad about it. You guys only bought out Curse, it doesn't mean we have to like you, it means you have to please us.

Once malware and popup ads start, people will actively search out a new host to upload their mods to, and users will leave you behind. Vet your adverts a lot harder than you have in the past. Put ads on your website, not a desktop client that people are told to keep running the background day and night.īuild Curseforge up so it does not need Overwolf, you can do it, its a matter of if you will do it. You guys can make the choice to treat the millions of WoW players correctly, or you can watch a never ending struggle to shutdown small dev teams who will scrape your site clean just to give users what they want. Overwolf, you guys are making an active choice to start off on the wrong foot with the WoW player base. You have a reported history of unstable software. You have a reported history of users being forced an ad to watch while in a loading screen for a game, simply because your program's overlay was running. You have the gall to not only shove adverts onto the desktop program, but to demand a monthly payment so that users can get back 26% of their screen from artwork and adverts at 1920x1080, and the useable space only shrinks as you make the window smaller.įorced ads are going to piss off many many people in many many places where they have a restricted data cap. You refuse to work on a system to let use have 1 program without bloat, good luck with this because your about to get millions of pissed off WoW players alone. You don't vet your adverts (history of reported malware and popup ads from your desktop client) You guys are in for a very very rough time This is the wrong answer, but for the users it will be a case of "well too bad"

The dedicated CurseForge team of engineers inside Overwolf will be in charge of continuously improving the Curseforge app to be the best mod manager out there.

Building it as a dedicated app on the Overwolf "engine", would practically mean that you’ll have the same UX, but with better performance, more capabilities, and faster development cycles, powered by everything we’ve built into Overwolf over the years which will run in the background without interfering with your game play.

We know many of you would have preferred to have CurseForge as a stand-alone app. You can see how we explained the rational behind the decision in our Newsletter This includes settings that allow you to close Overwolf with CurseForge. We've put in various ways to make the app behave as a 'standalone app' while OverWolf runs in the background. This is a popular subject that we've been discussing with gamers such as yourself.
